The Local Development Framework (LDF) is a set of documents which will define the future planning policy in the St Helens area including land around Parkside within the St Helens boundary. It will replace the current planning regulations called the Unitary Development Plan (UDP). PAG and its supporters objected to aspects of the Preferred Options consultation in 2007 which included recommendations to remove a massive area of land around the Parkside area from the Green Belt. The process has now moved to the next stage with the production of the draft of a document called the LDF Core Strategy. In this document the Council have essentially over-ruled our views and continue to pursue removal of unspecified amounts of land from the Green Belt. We therefore need your help again to object and let the Council know how you feel about their stance. Later in the year the document will be the subject of a future examination in public chaired by the planning inspectorate, prior to approval by the Secretary of State, at which time it will supersede the old UDP (timescale to move through the process approx mid 2010).
